Samuel J. Marr

AUGUSTA – Samuel J. Marr, 32, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, due to complications from Type 1 diabetes.

Sam was born in Providence, R.I. on Jan. 29, 1990 to Bill and Susan (Perry) Marr. He later moved to Maine with his family in 1994. He attended Cony High School and served as class president, graduating in 2008. While at Cony he was also active in Madrigals, Chorus, the drama club and the Junior Classical League. In late 2010 he met the love of his life, Jennifer Ross, and after dating for a little more than seven years, married her in 2018. They enjoyed many adventures together, from trips to the coast to hikes in the woods and everything in between!

Sam supported the American Diabetes Association by riding his bike in their annual fund raiser for several years. The first year he rode he was the top fundraiser for the state in his age group. He hoped that a cure for diabetes would be found.

He worked for many years at Game On, a local gaming and hobby shop. There he made many friends and acquaintances in the community while thoroughly enjoying his gaming passion. Most recently, he worked at the Hannaford deli in Augusta.

Sam will always be remembered for his warm personality, sharp wit, punny jokes, and love of cats.

He is survived by his cherished wife Jennifer Marr; his parents Bill and Susan Marr; brother Tom Marr; grandmother Rogene Perry; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved cats Redd, Ajani, and Jazal.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Hope Baptist Church, 726 Western Ave, Manchester, Maine on Sunday June 12 at 2 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the service. All are welcome to attend and share their memories and stories of Sam.
