Lloyd L. Bruen

READFIELD/FAYETTE – Lloyd L. Bruen, 92, died Jan. 29, 2022 at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Augusta.

Lloyd was born Feb. 3, 1929 in Readfield, the son of Halvor and Mildred (Lane) Bruen.

He attended Readfield Depot School and Winthrop High School. Lloyd worked on the family farm as well as for the State of Maine and several local contractors before owning and operating his own heavy equipment company, Bruen Construction. He served in the United States Army two separate times.

Lloyd married Priscilla Ladd of Readfield and together they raised their family. After Priscilla died Lloyd met and married LaDonna Miller. He and LaDonna enjoyed traveling in their motorhome from Maine to South Carolina and Florida and visited many places along the way.

He was a gentle, kind man with a positive attitude who helped many people. He was the type of person to give you the shirt off his back.

Lloyd was Assistant Fire Chief for the Fayette Fire Department for several years and was a member Lafayette Lodge #48 A.F & A.M.

He was predeceased by his son, Stephen; and wives Priscilla and LaDonna.

He is survived by his daughter, Orra Lee Hewett and husband Ron of Fayette, four sons, Laurence and his wife Marjie of Fayette, Edward of Fayette, Ronald and his wife Jody of Minnesota, and Dennis and his wife Shirley of Readfield; grandchildren Laurence, Nicholas, and Jonathan Bruen, Jennifer (Alleborn) Nickless and Melissa Alleborn, Joshua, Michael, and Sara Bruen, Dennis Bruen Jr. and Christine Bruen; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other extended family and friends.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, June 15 at 12 p.m. at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
