Joan Evadell (Reveley) Heyse

MONMOUTH – Joan Evadell (Reveley) Heyse, 89, of Monmouth, formerly of Milford, Conn., entered into eternal life on May 29, 2022, with her loving husband of 66 years, Raymond by her side, after a courageous, twelve-year battle with lung cancer.

Joan was born in New Haven, Conn. on April 4, 1933, to Erving and Esther (Young) Reveley. She graduated from East Haven High School in l951. Joan and Raymond met in 1952, while square dancing; and the two were wed on August 27, 1955.

Joan was a housewife, worked for an insurance company, and babysat children in their home for many years. She belonged to the Women’s Fire Department Auxiliary of Milford, Conn.; and was a member of the snowmobile club of Monmouth. In later years, she enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Ariz. and living at Cobbosseecontee Lake in Monmouth.

Joan is survived by her husband, Raymond; children Katherine (Kenneth) Erland, Patricia Heyse, Raymond Heyse Jr., and Frederick (Marilyn) Heyse. She was the proud Mamuc of Kyle and Ryan Erland, Luke, Helen, Leonardo Heyse, and Shayla Mitchell.

She cherished her family and loved having them visit her home in Maine, especially for their annual 4th of July celebration. She taught her grandchildren to make her special 4th of July cake, and also loved to play cards and board games with them, especially Yahtzee. Joan was a special and fun-loving wife, mom, Mamuc, and friend to all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on June 15, at 1 p.m. at Maine Veterans Cemetery Mt. Vernon Rd. Augusta.
