FALMOUTH – Joan W. Fenno, 90, died Friday, June 3, 2022 in Falmouth, with family at her side.

Born in Washington, D.C., to Clifton Andrews Whyte and Helen Kent Whyte, her father’s naval career led the family to Monmouth. Joan attended the University of Maine in Orono where she met her husband, Frank Wesley Fenno III, “Reuben”. Joan was passionate about Girl Scouts, holding various leadership positions over a span of 35 years. She worked in the Corning, N.Y. school district, retiring after over 40 years.

Joan’s true passion was working with animals and she thoroughly enjoyed running dog training classes for over 20 years for the City of Corning. Nearing retirement, Joan and Frank purchased a home near Wellsboro, Pa.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Frank; and brother, Clifton A. Whyte Jr. “Pete”.

She is survived by her five children, Karen Abbott (husband, Clifford Jr.), Frank W. Fenno IV (wife, Tricia), Stephanie Fenno Dubots, Michael Clifton Fenno (wife, Tracy), and Leslie Fenno Bruce (husband, Joseph); 10 grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Barbara Whyte, and her brother-in-law Charles Fenno.
