Lindsay R. Putnam

GARDINER – Lindsay R. Putnam of Gardiner passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2022. Born on April 30, 1958 to Lindsay “Larry” Putnam and Violet (Gordon) Putnam, Lindsay spent his formative years living in the greater Gardiner area. Lindsay attended Gardiner area schools and graduated from Gardiner Area High School in 1976.Lindsay followed in his father’s footsteps and became a licensed Master Plumber, eventually taking over his father’s business, Putnam’s Plumbing. Lindsay was a man who loved his work. He was always proud of the jobs he completed and would show anyone he could his impeccable plumbing work and pipes that had” perfect pitch”. He would joke that he had a “level in his eye”, meaning he never needed to put a level on a pipe to check the pitch. Lindsay’s favorite job was being a father, accompanying his daughters on hot air balloon adventures and attending dance recitals. He was looking forward to spending lots of happy times with the newest girl in his life, his granddaughter Violette. Growing up, Lindsay enjoyed summers at the family’s cottage on Capitol Island in Southport where he would fish, boat and simply enjoy the pleasures of the ocean. The water was his refuge and enjoyed the calmness that it brought. In recent years, Lindsay purchased a boat and enjoyed taking trips down the Kennebec River, especially trips to Popham. Lindsay is survived by his two daughters, Courtnay Schadtle and her husband Michael of Sumner; Catherine Putnam and her significant other Nathan Bartshe of Auburn; granddaughter, Violette Schadtle of Sumner. He is also survived by his two sisters, Barbara Sweet and her husband Todd of Lincoln, and Patricia Putnam of Randolph along with their families. He also leaves behind his dog Jamie who was his constant companion over the last three years.Lindsay was predeceased by his mother, Violet (Gordon) Putnam and his father Lindsay “Larry” Putnam; as well as his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. Celebration of Lindsay’s life will beheld on Saturday June 18, at 2 p.m., at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner.
