Judith “Judy” Ann (Buzzell) Cochran

NORRIDGEWOCK – Judith “Judy” Ann (Buzzell) Cochran, 78, left this world to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 4, 2022 surrounded by family at home following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.She was born on July 24, 1943, in Waterville, the daughter of Basil A. Buzzell and Mary Barbara (Cook) Buzzell . Raised in Oakland and educated in local schools, Judy graduated from Williams High School in Oakland in 1961, she then attended Atlantic Union College in Lancaster, Mass. and graduated with a degree in education. In 1962, she married Alfred Michael Cochran in Norridgewock where they raised their five sons. Judy’s career highlights included teacher at Riverview Memorial School in Norridgewock spanning many years, assistant to Dr. Turk, DSS in Madison, and working alongside her late husband who passed away in 2016 as self-employed general contractors and property developers for five decades. Dedicated and generous, Judy was involved in several civic and community organizations, particularly as an ardent supporter of Riverview Memorial School. With more than five decades membership with the Norridgewock Seventh Day Adventist Church; she planted many a seed along her journey – teaching Sabbath School, embracing prayer support circles, Bible-study, and countless church activities. She helped launch the original Feed the Needy Food Cupboard, later transitioning to operating the Norridgewock Food Cupboard for the greater community for several decades. Judy enjoyed gardening, camping, SDA Camp-Meeting, knitting, crochet, quilting, crafting, cooking and was an avid reader. She was devout in her service to the Lord and devoted to her family. With a passion for traveling, Judy & Alfred embarked on their trip of a lifetime visiting National Parks coast-to-coast in 2009. Following her husband’s passing in 2016, she continued to share many excursions with family to state parks, gorges, waterfalls, preserves, beaches, forts, venturing to the wilds of Alaska for a scenic and memorable camper-driven exploration complete with glaciers and grizzlies, then taking her adventures international with her recent visit to Africa. Following fire that destroyed the family home in 2018, her new home was built by her sons in the same location. With her next cross-country journey unexpectedly not-to-be, her family surrounded her with reminiscing, flowers, music, prayer, and Lia’s culinary delights and doting round-the-clock care. Judith is survived by her cherished five sons, Jody A. Cochran of Augusta, Allyx J. Cochran of Norridgewock, Andrew M. Cochran and Lia Raff of Norridgewock, Aarick M. Cochran and Rose Cochran of Norridgewock, and Jared A. Cochran of Norridgewock; four grandsons, Benjamin A. Caulder, Luke A. Cochran, Dawson A. Cochran, and Bryce M. Cochran; granddaughter, Helena G. Cochran; sister Jane A. Cochran (Buzzell) and husband Dana J. Cochran, brother Wayne A. Buzzell, brother Warren A. Buzzell and wife Ethel Buzzell; and many treasured cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and congregation. She was predeceased by her parents Basil and Mary Buzzell; husband Alfred Michael Cochran; two granddaughters Michelle Keller Cochran and Jayde Allison Cochran; and her beloved chihuahua, Tinkerbelle. Services will be held on June 25 at 2 p.m. at the Norridgewock Seventh Day Adventist Church, 30 Upper Main Street, with Pastor Ramsey officiating, with a Celebration of Life immediately following at Riverview Memorial School, 201 Mercer Rd, Norridgewock.
