ARROWSIC – John L. White Sr., 83, passed away peacefully at home in Arrowsic with his three children by his side June 20, 2022. John was born May 18, 1939, in Gardiner to Florence M Trenholm and Francis L White.

John enlisted in the Navy in 1956 -1960 serving at Pensacola Naval base for his first year and then on the USS Gyatt DDG1, served two years in the Navy Reserve spending some time on the USS Everglades AD24. John was a 3rd class radioman. John retired from Augusta Mental Health Institute after 40 years. He enjoyed gardening, motorcycling, playing guitar, camping and was a Ham radio operator KB1OWC. He most enjoyed being by the ocean and sailing in his sailboat with the love of his life Lesley in his earlier years.

John was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 36 years Lesley M White, his ex-wife Maxine C Morton, brothers Ronald, Theron, Edmund White, Albert and Terrance McDonald and Francis White.

John is survived by his children Mona and partner Skeet, Sheri and husband Jon, son John Jr. and stepson Ted Pelletier; grandchildren Jason, Jamie, April, William, Alishia, Robert, Stephen, Dylan and Christopher; great-grandchildren Hunter, Keleb, Alana, Bradley, Bailey, Liam, Riley, Aubree, Aleigha, Nova and papa’s pup “Beulah”; sisters Violet Long, Sharon Stovall, Cheryl White, Christine White, Donna White and Dina Galbreath and sister-in-law Anita Kelsh of England and Elaine White.

The family would like to thank Chans Home Health and Hospice of Brunswick for the care given to our father. Although it was short everyone was very professional, caring and helpful. Also, would like to thank Funeral Alternatives of Brunswick for their caring and professional service.

There will not be a service or burial at Dad’s request he would like his ashes scattered at sea along with those of his wife Lesley whom he loved and adored with all his being and missed so very much.
