Irvin L. Rogers

AUGUSTA – Irvin L. Rogers, 94, of Augusta, and Holiday, Fla. passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Marliere Hospice Care Center in New Port Richey, Fla. Irvin was born in Skowhegan on Feb. 5, 1928, the son of Gladys and Harold Rogers.

After graduating from Gardiner High School in 1945 he enlisted in the Navy, and was stationed in Pensacola, Fla. and San Diego, Calif. He also proudly served on both the Destroyer, USS James C. Owens and the Escort, USS Alexander J. Luke, which he spoke of frequently.

He was in the electrical industry for over 50 years. He and his wife Blanche together owned and operated Rogers Electric for 37 years, starting in 1966.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Associated General Contractors of Maine, American Legion, and Maine State Harness Racing Commission.

In 1966 he married the love of his life, Blanche, and raised their blended family of six children plus his brother-in-law, Michael Veilleux who lost his mother at the age of 9.

Many good memories were made during their 56 years of marriage. Travels with family and friends to many of the islands including Aruba, cruise ship excursions, U.S. state tours, with their best friends Charlie and Connie Mills. Irvin also enjoyed harness race horses, having owned many of them. He could be found at Fryeburg, Lewiston, Scarborough, and Windsor race tracks.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; brother, Ivan Rogers, and sister, Ines Edgecomb.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Blanche; and his beloved children and stepchildren, Debra Rogers and Paul, Lance Rogers and Mary, Wade Rogers, Kathleen Hilliard and Troy, Jacqueline St. Pierre, Leonard and JoAnn Hilliard; also by 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Blanche and the family would like to thank Hospice of Pasco County, and Sunflower Springs of Trinity, especially to Tim, Brandi, Mandy, and the staff for their compassionate care.

Funeral Arrangements will be made at a later date, Irvin will be laid to rest at the Maine Veteran Cemetery.
