Clifford L. Dixon

FARMINGDALE – Clifford L. Dixon, 87, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022, at the Captain Lewis Residence after a brief illness with his loving family at his side. He is the husband of the late Joan (Goodness) Dixon.

Clifford was born Aug. 20, 1934, in Waterville, he was the son of the late Lorimer H. and Mildred (Nason) Dixon. He was a resident of Pittston for many years before moving to the Captain Lewis Residence. He was a graduate of Clinton High School. Cliff was a United States Army veteran and held the rank of SP 4.

Cliff was the manager at the former Hannaford’s for many years until his retirement. His career was Cottles, Shop n Save and Hannaford’s. Started as a bagger, in the Waterville store then to produce, assistant manager and finally a store manager.

He treasured the time he spent with his family and friends, he especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Cliff is survived by his seven children Ann Jean and her husband Reggie of Florida, Laurie Jacques and her husband Bob of Florida, Cathy McKenna and her husband Dan of Randolph, Colleen Trussell and her husband Harry of Pittston, Mary Cray and her partner, John of Chelsea, Clifford Dixon and his wife Doris of Pittston and Peter Dixon of Gardiner. His loving companion Gloria Lamiette of Gardiner. Cliff is also survived by his nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his loving wife Joan, Cliff was predeceased by his brother David Dixon and his sisters Coralie Tozier, Helen Campbell, Jean Terstegan and Phyllis Jewell.

Clifford’s visiting hours will be on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 6-8 p.m., in the Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
