Judith E. McDermott

FARMINGDALE – Judith E. McDermott, 83, of Farmingdale and formerly of Gardiner, died Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

Judy was born in Waterville, Maine, on Feb. 21, 1939, daughter of Rene and Mildred Ouellette. She was a graduate of Cony High School class of 1957.

Judy was a stay-at-home mom who also worked various jobs through the years, notably as a Classified Sales Consultant at the Kennebec Journal. She attended and was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Gardiner for much of her adult life. 

Judy was predeceased by her parents. 

She is survived by her daughter, Peri A. Scarpino and husband Mike of Hampton, N.H., as well as her siblings, Cynthia Gray of Gardiner, David T. Ouellette, and fiancé Donna of Harpswell, and Roland Ouellette and wife Dulce of Oklahoma, three grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Judy had an independent spirit and infectious laugh. She loved spending time with family and friends and was especially proud of and loved spending time with her grandsons, Matthew, Jake, and Sam Scarpino. Judy had many long-standing close friendships and always looked forward to her monthly get-togethers with her best friends from high school. Judy also enjoyed her daily trips to the Landing in Gardiner, any opportunity to get a lobster on the coast, as well as doing her crosswords.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, July 23, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, followed by a burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Gardiner.
