Steven “Steve” L. Spaulding

SKOWHEGAN – Steven “Steve” L. Spaulding, 68, passed away July 13, 2022, at Maine Veteran’s Hospital in Augusta with his loved ones by his side. He was born March 27, 1954, in Ayer, Massachusetts, the son of Raymond and Nancy (Clark) Spaulding.

Steve proudly served his country in the Marine Corps from 1972 until 1978.

He was the commander of the Peters-Shortier American Legion post #16 in Skowhegan for more than 15 years. It was his second home and he considered everyone there extended family. He was a past department chaplain and past fourth district commander for the American Legion. He was also a member of the Veterans Memorial Park in Skowhegan. Steve also served on the budget committee, the cemetery committee and he also was a past town selectman for Skowhegan.

His hobbies included four-wheeling with the side-by-side with his wife, Ann, who he was married to for 52 years. He liked to visit anyone that was willing to sit and talk, he also ran the bingo building at the Skowhegan State Fair, but his greatest love was his family. He adored all four of his grandchildren. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.

Steve will be greatly missed by all his neighbors on the Oak Pond Road. He considered them all more than friends. They are family.

We would like to thank everyone for their support and understanding through this time. A special thank you to the Lacroix family for all their help. Steve was a very dedicated, loyal and loving man. He will be greatly missed by all.

Steve is survived by his wife Ann (Bushnoe) Spaulding of Skowhegan; daughter, Ronda Spaulding of Skowhegan; son, Steven G. Spaulding and wife Jennifer of Clinton; grandchildren, Kathrine Pitcher, Steven T. Spaulding, Victoria Spaulding and Jasmine Spaulding all of Clinton; sisters, Sandra Magaw and partner Ray Sherwin of North Oxford, Massachusetts, Sheila Shepard of Ayer, Massachusetts, Rita Spaulding of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; brother, Joe Spaulding and wife Debby of North Berwick; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond Spaulding and Nancy (Clark) Magaw; grandmother, Mildred Spaulding, brother, Timothy Magaw; and twin sons, Steven L. Jr. and Raymond J. Spaulding.
