Irene Weglarz Inglis

Holmdel, N.J. – Irene Weglarz Inglis, 87, passed away peacefully with her husband, Phil, of 65 years by her side.

She was born and raised in Old Bridge, N.J. She met her future husband Phil Inglis and they were married on May 25, 1957. In 1959, they moved to their new home that they build themselves in the Morganville section of Marlboro Twp., N.J. In 1984 they moved to their new home in Holmdel Twp., N.J.

Irene graduated from South River High School. Upon graduation, she worked for a brief period at Matko Sportswear in South River. Irene then went to work for The First National Bank of South River (now PNC) until leaving after several years to raise her children. When both children were attending school, she went back to work in the Finance Department for Marlboro Township, first part time and then transitioning after a couple of years to full time for approximately seven years.

Irene visited many places during her life including, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Lebanon, Mexico, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Germany and other countries in Europe and the Caribbean.

She was a “snowbird” for fourteen years in Bonita Springs, Fla. She enjoyed summer months at Bear Springs Camps on Great Pond in Belgrade, Maine, from 1964 to the late 1980s. Subsequently, she and her family enjoyed the home they built on the lake for the past 33 years. She made great friends in Maine.

She was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Philip Saunders Inglis, a daughter, Susan (Inglis) Dandaneau and husband, Steve; a son, Mark Inglis and wife Veronica, four grandchildren, Alexandra, Lucas, Brendan, and Christian; a sister, Nell White and Alice Soden; sisters-in-law, Joan Weglarz, and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary Weglarz, and siblings, Louis, Joseph, Sophie, John, Anne, Frank, Fred and Michael.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27, from 4-7 p.m., at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 Sout Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, July 28, at 11 a.m., at St. Gabriel’s Church, 100 N Main Street, Marlboro, N.J., 07746. A burial will follow on the church grounds cemetery.
