Bonnie Perkins

SKOWHEGAN – Bonnie Perkins was born July 18, 1960 in Skowhegan and peacefully passed away Thursday July 21, 2022 at Cedar Ridge in Skowhegan.

One of Bonnie’s greatest accomplishments was working for MSAD #49, driving school bus and working in the school cafeteria, all while her daughter, Angela, was growing up. She took great pleasure in driving the bus for over 15 years.

Passions, hobbies and things that she enjoyed in her spare time, consisted of doing plastic canvas with family members, scrapbooking with her daughter and others, watching movies or playing games on her kindle. However later on in life, Bonnie’s pride and joy was going up to their camper with her husband, Bruce and dog, Gizmo (who passed before Bonnie) to KOA campground in Canaan. Many of her fondest memories took place up there.

Bonnie was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, stage 2 Breast Cancer on Oct. 25, 2019. She fought through chemotherapy and radiation and began remission in December of 2020. Even though Bonnie was a fighter she is no longer in pain and is now watching over her loved ones.

Bonnie was always fond of the Shriner’s as they took care of her daughter when she was born and after. Once Bonnie was diagnosed with breast cancer she then became a big ally for talking with those who were struggling with breast cancer like her.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, Bruce, of 41 years of marriage; and her daughter, Angela, 40 years old. Bonnie had a baby brother, Robert Gray (wife Bridget), who she practically raised and thought the world of. Bonnie was especially proud of her two nieces, Olivia and Lilly Gray. Bonnie also leaves behind a mother-in-law, Harriet Perkins; two aunts, Judy Richardson and Corrine Richardson; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and a special great-nephew, Dominic “Dom” McAdoo and great-niece, Rhiannon “Rain” Letourneau.

Bruce and Angela have decided not to hold any services for Bonnie at this time and will be scheduling at a later date. Please visit http://www.SmartandEdwardsFH.com to share your condolences with Bonnie’s family.

Bonnie’s wishes in lieu of flowers, would be that you donate to the Shriners Hospital or to a breast cancer research center,

in her honor.
