PALERMO — The Palermo Community Library plans to hold a Book Walk from Friday, Aug. 5 through Monday, Sept. 5.
Participants can read a book while hiking the Palermo Preserve trails at 1401 Turner Ridge Road. The featured story is “Randy Riley’s Really Big Hit” by Chris Van Dusen.
As families walk along the wooded path, they will find laminated pages of the book attached to trees.
Participants can follow their hike at the Palermo Community Library, 2789 Route 3, with activities located in the children’s section. Activities will include a robot worksheet and a craft project for children to make a robot by taping coloring paper cubes together. There also will also be a STEM/STEAM question to answer for a prize.
This event is sponsored by the Palermo Community Library with the cooperation of the Midcoast Conservancy.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
