Robert E. Libby

AUGUSTA – Robert E. Libby of Augusta passed away on July 25, 2022.

He was born Jan. 22, 1956, the son of William O. Libby Sr. and Dolline Perkins Libby. Bob graduated from Madison Area High School in 1974 and then served four years in the Army. From 2007 to present he worked for the Morning Sentinel and Kennebec Journal newspapers.

From 2000 to 2020 Bob managed and ran the bingo program at the Winslow VFW. Bob loved the outdoors, he loved hunting, fishing and gardening, and of course, playing bingo.

One of Bob’s favorite things was to collect Christmas ornaments. He had a large collection.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, a sister Sherry Libby and a brother Bill Libby.

He is survived by his siblings, Betty and Michael Black of Anson, Betsey Stevens and Gil of Skowhegan, David and Ila of Skowhegan, Mike and Kelly of Stetson, Tim and Cheryl of Rhode Island, David and Gwen of Woodstock, Terry Libby of Skowhegan along with many nieces and nephews. Bob was loved by so many and will be missed by family and dear friends which include his VFW bingo family and his Morning Sentinel and Kennebec Journal family.

A special thank you to Janet Pelletier and Carol Pelletier. Also, all the ladies who cooked and brought food for Bob at the bingo hall, including Grace Doyon, for her awesome fudge, he so enjoyed. A special thank you to his boss, Charlene McGraw. A very special thank you to his friend and co-worker Frank York.

A celebration of life will be held on Aug. 20, 2022, at 11 a.m., at the Winslow VFW. A military burial will be held at a later date.
