SAN MATEO, Fla. – Cynthia “Cindy” Damren Kennedy of San Mateo, Florida, passed away peacefully, on Thursday Aug. 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with ALS. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Donald Kennedy.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ted, her son Trevor (Jordan), her daughters, Erin (Holden) and Maddie (Matt). She is also survived by her mother and father, Alice and Floyd Damren of Belgrade, Maine, and her mother -in- law, Sarah Kennedy of Livermore Falls Maine. Cindy is also survived by her granddaughter Emersyn Kennedy and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cindy was known for her love of all creatures great and small. She adopted several dogs, cats and other various creatures to assure they all had a caring home and gave them the love that all creatures deserve.

Cindy was a “people person” and accepted everyone for whom they were and always made them feel comfortable in her presence. She was a second mother to many, as she treated her children’s friends like her own. She was known to visit her children’s classes and crawl up on the floor and read a book to an interested student because it was the right thing to do.

Cindy lived for her family. Her activities centered on how to support her children’s many activities from sporting events to dance classes and recitals to every school function possible. She was able to be a stay -at- home mom and took full advantage of that to support her children and be a part of their lives in all they did. Even Cindy’s hobby honored her family as she was an avid scrap booker. She spent many hours assembling scrap books with hundreds of pictures from family events and just plain living. She had particular fun assembling her scrap books with her many “Scrapping Ladies” at the scrap book events. She cherished her trips to her home state of Maine and visiting family. During her struggle with ALS, she would facetime daily with her parents to remain connected and share the love that they had for each other.

Cindy’s greatest passion was for the comfort and entertainment of Disney World. Her move to the state of Florida was contingent upon Season Tickets to “The Happiest Place on Earth”. She loved the festive atmosphere, the food, the rides, the art and most of all the challenge of finding all the Hidden Micky’s in the parks. She shared her love for Disney with her family and friends and was responsible for creating the next generation of Kennedy’s to love the Disney experience. 

Cindy will be dearly missed by her friends and family but has built a legacy that cannot be matched as the person that we all wanted to be around. 

Services celebrating Cindy’s life will be at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Michael Curtis officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of services at 5 p.m.
