Richard Hollis Freeman

AUGUSTA – Richard Hollis Freeman, 74, entered into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Aug. 6, 2022.

He was born on Aug. 9, 1947, a son of Benjamin F. and Elizabeth (Reid) Freeman. Dick grew up in Maine, graduating from Cony High School in 1966. He went on to further his education, graduating from the University of Maine at Farmington, and later from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. On March 2, 1974, he married Elaine A. Harrell, and the two raised a son, Benjamin Freeman.

Throughout his life, Dick served as a Congregational Church Pastor, residing in several communities throughout the United States including Etna, Pa., Lubec, Maine, Pomeroy, Ohio, Kingston, N.H., Lavallette, N.J., and Pittston. His was a lover of history, architecture, archeology, genealogy, and reading. He served and volunteered with several community organizations including the Fort Western Board of Trustees.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Elaine Freeman; his son, Benjamin and his wife, Lindsay; and a granddaughter, Emmaline.

Visiting hours will be held at Elaineā€™s home on Wednesday, August 10, from 2-6 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held on August 11, at 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church of Pittston, 21 Arnold Road, Pittston, Maine.
