WATERVILLE — Day’s Jewelers President Joe Corey was among four new members elected to the Jewelers of America board of directors the week of July 24. Corey was hired as the president of Day’s in 2021 and has been involved in executing some major changes to the company. He was involved in converting the company to 100% employee owned in November 2021. He  recently spearheaded the decision to close stores on Sundays to promote a healthy work-life balance for employees. Corey also continues to serve on the board of directors of Jewelers for Children and the board of advisors for JCK Las Vegas, according to a news release from the Waterville company.

Jewelers of America is a nonprofit jewelry association founded in 1906 to help encourage and advance the professionalism and ethics of the jewelry industry. Since then, Jewelers of America has helped to provide retailers and customers with education pertaining to industry best practices, fine jewelry buying, gemstone, metal, diamond cleaning and care, and countless other topics.

Corey, along with the rest of the members of the JA board, advise the organization on its strategic direction and share the organization’s goal to ensure the continued success of the jewelry industry.
