A Unity man was being held without bail Friday on several charges, including kidnapping and domestic violence terrorizing, following a standoff this week at a home in Montville, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

Ten charges were filed against 47-year-old Aaron Nickerson in the aftermath of the standoff at the home on Morse Road, which extends south from the Belfast Road in Knox. A couple of the other charges include possession of a firearm by a felon and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

The sheriff’s office received a report about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday of an ongoing domestic disturbance at the home, according to a news release issued by that office. Information provided by the victim at the home led deputies to request that the Maine State Police tactical team also respond to the scene.

But deputies took Nickerson into custody about 4:30 a.m., prior to the arrival of the tactical team, according to the release.

Waldo County jail logs did not list an attorney for Nickerson and it’s not clear if he has one who could speak on his behalf.

The incident remains under investigation and no other information was provided by authorities.
