SOLON – Annie Cooley York, 86 of Solon, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, after a long bout with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born Oct. 7, 1935, in Wade, Maine, in Aroostook County.

She was predeceased by her first husband Percy Cooley and also her second husband Colby York, both due to cancer. She also lost two sons, Brian and Steve, at a very early age. Sisters Maude, Phyllis, Lillian and brother Philip also predeceased her.

She is survived by a sister Betty (Ivan) Spooner, daughter Linda, and son Greg and his wife Lori of Solon. Also, several nieces and nephews and grandchildren Keri, Trevor, Nikki, and Sara. She adored her brother-in-law Rene Cloukey of Ashland.

Annie worked hard her entire life. She was employed by Solon Mfg. for over 30 years. She loved to talk about picking potatoes when she was just a little tyke. She was open to life’s opportunities and met every challenge head on. She was a super mom and made sure her children came first.

She loved a good game of Cribbage and won her share. Putting puzzles together and crosswords were her enjoyment in her later years.

Per her request, there will be no services. She finally got her wish to go to heaven. She will certainly be missed by all that knew her. Bye for now mom.

Special thanks to the amazing people at Cedar Ridge who took such good care of Annie in her last years. They were so helpful and caring. Also, thank you to Beacon Hospice for keeping Annie comfortable and easing her last days to the end. You all should be proud of the work that you do day-in and day-out. Thank you all so much.

Anyone who wishes to give can donate to an Alzheimer’s charity and/or Skowhegan Animal Shelter.
