James “Jim” R. Maden

SOLON – James “Jim” R. Maden, 86, passed away Aug. 15, 2022, at his home in Solon. He was born Dec. 30, 1935, in Brockton, Massachusetts.

He was employed as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamster’s Union. He was a member of the Samoset Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed playing cribbage, going snowmobiling, hunting, gardening and Friday night happy hour at the Solon Hotel (he never missed them). He was an avid bird watcher and had dozens of hummingbird feeders. He built bird houses and anything else in general. For Jim, there was nothing a few screws, duct tape, some wood and/or a can of spray paint would not fix.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara (Baiko) Maden of Skowhegan; stepchildren, Michelle Corson and partner Ross Frazier of Madison; Kimberley Marr and husband Corey of Skowhegan; Cathy Milojevic-Kaey and husband Danny of Budapest, Hungary; Gary Nelson of Solon; children, Marie White and husband David of Sandy, Utah; Grace Washburn of Virginia; Richard Maden and husband Daniel Newman of Janesville, Wis.; brother-in-law Paul Baiko of Skowhegan; grandchildren, Lauren Landry and partner Bryant Lee of Farmingdale; Caleb Mack of Buxton; Stephanie Marr and partner Caleb Soucier of Skowhegan; great-granddaughter, Kinsley Soucier of Skowhegan; nieces, Lindsay Susi and husband Dom of Portland; Heather Baiko of Winslow; Christina Baiko of Canaan; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sons, Timothy Maden and Ed “Buddy” Maden and granddaughter Nicole Lynn Corson.

Special appreciation to good friends and neighbors, Bo and Nancy Nye, George and Penny Williams, David Lynds, Richard Roberts and Dan Champany and Amy.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022 at 1 p.m., at 320 Shusta Road, Madison, Maine.
