HUDSON, Fla. – Dana W. Ashey, 67, of Hudson, Florida, passed away Sunday Aug. 21, 2022, after a brief illness with his wife by his side.

Dana was born in Kittery, Maine, on June 29, 1955, to the late Wilfred and Constance (McDonough) Ashey. He grew up in Winslow, Maine, and attended Winslow schools. He was attending electrician school when he suffered a spinal cord injury at the age of 24. He never let that get in the way of enjoying life and never said ”Why me?”. He continued to hunt, fish, garden and travel. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

When a nephew and niece needed a home due to life-changing events in their own lives, he did not hesitate to have them come live with him and his wife. That was the type of man he was and he could not have loved them more if they were his own children.

Dana leaves his wife of 25 years, Theresa, and three brothers: Dean (Rhonda) of Winslow, Dennis (Diane) of Oakland and Daniel (Darlene) of Pembroke Pines, Florida. He also leaves 12 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was always grateful for the good friends in his life.

A memorial service will take place at a later date in Maine.
