TORONTO – Patrick Murray Burns, formerly of Wayne, died unexpectedly in Toronto, Canada, on June 4, 2022, at the age of 57. He was born Dec. 22, 1964, in Montreal, Canada, son of Vincent and Vinita Burns.

Patrick graduated from Maranacook Community School in 1983. Following high school Patrick attended the University of Southern Maine, where he graduated with a communications degree. While living in Toronto he worked to help the Parkdale district to be a safer place for all to live.

One of Patrick’s friends said of him, “I always found him to be a very passionate person with a big laugh and a good sense of humor.” Patrick loved to try new things and meet new people! He was big on new technology and going out to restaurants to try new foods. He was most happy boating, fly fishing and camping. He would never turn down a game of Risk, cribbage, hearts or spades. He played racquetball and tennis and was proud of his collection of records and rock and roll posters.

Patrick was predeceased by his sister Susan Burns and sister in law, Monica Burns.

He is survived by his parents, Vin and Vinnie, brother Vincent Corbett “Corby” Burns, sisters, Paula Burns and Margot Burns Gyorgy, brother-in-law, Dean Gyorgy, and stepsons Andrew and Christian Melson, his seven nieces and nephews as well as his aunt Helen Murray, cousins, Michael “Thomas” Murray, Monica Murray Webb, Michelle Murray, and their families. He loved the many dogs and cats in his life, and most recently adored his two Blue Russian cats, Boris and Hugo.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4, at the Androscoggin Yacht Club in Wayne.
