The 2022 Trek for the Trails, presented by Norway Savings Bank, is scheduled to run from Thursday, Sept. 1 to Friday, Sept. 30.
Participants will automatically be entered into a raffle for prizes from local business, including a 2022-23 season pass to Shawnee Peak Ski Area, gift cards from Bridgton Books, and a two-night stay at Pleasant Mountain Camping.
To participate, people can register and then visit any Loon Echo Land Trust trail or preserve throughout September to hike, walk, bike (on trails where biking is permitted) or take in the view. Trail runners can compete for the best time via Strava segment on three trail running routes — one on Pleasant Mountain, Bald Pate, and at Raymond Community Forest to compete for pie.
Trekkers also can choose to raise money from friends and family to support Trek and LELT trails.
All participants are invited to a celebration on Friday, Sept. 30.
The trek is LELT’s largest annual fundraising event; 100% of the $20 registration fee helps maintain the trails. Registration is free for youth 16 and younger.
To register, visit lelt.org/trek or mail a check to LELT (memo: Trek) at 8 Depot St., Suite 4 Bridgton, ME 04009. Participants may register up until Sept. 30.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
