Gerald Guy Rogers

SOLON – Gerald Guy Rogers, born Oct. 15, 1946, passed away peacefully at Cedar Ridge Center, Skowhegan, Maine on Aug. 23, 2022, at the age of 75, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. 

Gerald was born in Eustis, Maine, to Glennis Safford and Guy Rogers. During his childhood, Gerald and his family, including sisters Ann and Linda and brother Gary, moved to Solon. After graduating from Solon High School, Gerald enlisted in the Army where he was able to travel to Europe, learn German and take many photos, which he treasured. Upon returning to Solon, he married Penny McQuilkin on May 12, 1973, and raised two daughters, Hillary and Liza.

Gerald loved to hunt and fish, weld, build with his hands, work on anything with a motor, care for his property and spend time with his family. He spent 27 years working for Cianbro as general foreman and assistant supervisor. Those close to him will remember him as kind, hard working and a man of few words with a big heart.

Gerald is survived by his spouse Penny, daughter Hillary Polley, son-in-law Stephen, grandsons, Devon and Nathan and granddaughter Hannah, daughter Liza and granddaughter Sydney, sister Linda French, brother Gary Rogers, spouse Cindy, nephew Travis and niece Kristen, nephews, Bradley and Brian Edwards, aunts, Marilyn Rogers and Elsie Laughlin, sister-in-law Zella Corson and niece Danielle, brother-in-law William Frederick of Illinois, spouse Camilla, nephew Kaleb, spouse Jenny, great-nephews, Everett and Levi, nephew Lucas, niece Kalee, spouse Blake and great-niece Lillian. He is predeceased by his sister Ann Edwards and nephews, Jeffrey French and Zachary Corson.

A funeral service will be held at the Solon Congregational Church, 86 N. Main St., Solon, Maine, 04979 on Saturday, September 10, at 2 p.m. For any questions regarding services please call Giberson Funeral Home at (207) 672-5563.
