Lorin F. ”Buster” Potter

READFIELD – Lorin F. ”Buster” Potter, 95, passed away on Aug. 21, 2022, at home with loving family by his side. He is the husband of the late Geraldine “Midgie” (Bryant) Potter with whom he shared almost 68 years of marriage.

Buster was born July 13, 1927, in Mount Vernon, Maine. He is the son of the late Woodford and L. Marie (Cole) Potter. He resided in Readfield for most of his life.

After serving in the Korean War for the U.S. Army he settled into a career as Head of Maintenance at Kents Hill Preparatory School in Kents Hill Maine. He retired in 1992 after 33 years of dedicated service.

Buster treasured the time he spent with family, especially Sunday dinners with four generations gathered together. He built additions onto his home as the family grew for more than 70 years. He was loyal in absolutely all the ways a person can be, in his marriage, his family, his friends and his work. He enjoyed family day trips throughout Maine. People always admired his beautiful vegetable garden and well-maintained lawn which he worked on right up until the day he died. With his creativity he enjoyed making treasured keepsakes out of wood and metal.

In addition to his loving wife Midgie, he is predeceased by his son in law Richard Lippert, as well as his brothers, Henry, Donald, Howard and Hubert, his sisters, Trudy Brooks, Phyllis Weston and Mabel White Cates.

Buster is survived by his loving children, Verneice Lippert, Belinda and Michael Burke, Joseph Potter and ex-wife Angela. His cherished grandchildren, Wade and Heather Lippert, Kristy and James Knight, Sara and Nicholas Flanagan, Jacob Burke and Erin, Maggie and Rory Eckardt, Shelby Potter and Zac, and Jolene Potter. His treasured nine great grandchildren and his loyal great-grand dog Sophie. Buster is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Miriam Potter, his brothers-in-law Robert and Dottie Bryant, Kenneth Bryant Sr. and many extraordinarily special nieces and nephews.

Buster’s graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Readfield Corner Cemetery, Church Road, Readfield, Maine. Friends and family are invited to attend.
