David V. Wooley

OAKLAND – David V. Wooley, 87, of Oakland, died peacefully at Woodlands Senior Living, Brewer Campus, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. He was born Dec. 3, 1934, son of the late Thomas and Thelma Wooley.

David was educated in the Oakland schools. David was a man of many talents. In his earlier days, he was a painter, a trade that was taught to him by his dad, Thomas. Later he learned the drywall trade which he taught to his three sons. In addition, he began a fiberglass step business and also manufactured nozzles for machine shops. In his later years, he was the owner of Oakland Self-Storage.

David was a hard worker, who was also very community minded. He served on the Oakland Council from 1990-2002. He helped to create Oakland First Park and served as Chairman of the Board. David was a caring and devoted family man. He was always ready to lend a hand, supply whatever was needed and made sure to attend every family gathering he was able to. He enjoyed family time, golf, playing pool and riding his motorcycle (in his younger days).

He was the beloved husband of the late Doris E. Wooley; the father of three sons, Darold Wooley (wife Janice), the late Daniel Wooley (wife Cynthia), David Wooley (wife to be Sue), and stepson Ron Kelley (wife Terry). He was Grampy to Christine Wooley, Nicole Carter, Michelle Wooley-Jacques (Matt), Ashley VanDeventer (Josh), Stephanie Wooley, Casey Wooley. and Pepere to Colleen Groner (Mike), and Allison D’Agostino (Michael). David is also survived by three sisters, Audrey Smiley, Gerry Farmer and Lucille Smith (Fred), three stepsiblings, Kenneth Wooley (Maggie), Marcia Wooley and Neil Wooley (Angie); great- grandchildren, Sophia, Noelle, Natalie, Amelia, Michael, Lillian, Andrew, Owen, Audrey, Esther, Ruth, Ethan, David and Isaac. He was predeceased by his grandson, Corey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
