An open house is planned for noon-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at Colby College’s Greene Block + Studios at 18 Main St. in Waterville. This event is free and open to all.
The open house is a chance to meet the teaching artists as they demonstrate the free workshops that will be offered to the community, learn about how to get involved with free arts programming this year, and celebrate the opening of the Center for Book & Print, according to a news release from Tyler French.
Those who attend will be the first to participate in a new installation developed by artist Maggie Libby, titled “Where We Are Now: Maps and Doorways.” Community members will be invited to shape the installation as it grows and changes throughout the year.
The event also will include some dancing from 5 to 7 p.m.
For more information, contact French at 207-859-5659 or [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
