June B. Bouford

SKOWHEGAN – June B. Bouford, 97, of Skowhegan, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at Redington Memorial Home in Skowhegan. She was born in East Madison (Lakewood) on Aug. 11, 1925, the daughter of Alfred “Fred” and Ruth (Albee) Bouford. She was the only child.

June was educated in Skowhegan schools, a graduate of the class of 1943. She had participated in winter sports and was a cheerleader.

She married Leonard G. Lawson on Feb. 19, 1944, in Skowhegan and resided on Parkman Hill Road till 1954 where they moved to the Lawson family farm on the Dudley Corner Road in Skowhegan. After a divorce she married Richard A. Plummer on Oct. 25, 1969.

June was employed as a dental administrative assistant, plus other administrative positions in Skowhegan. She was fond of her flower and vegetable gardens which she enjoyed from spring to fall. Her tomatoes were renowned for quality and taste to the local community. She loved to read mystery and suspense novels. Other interest were tools, especially small power tools which she requested as gifts. A new tool, mystery novel and a box of chocolates would make her best day.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and a daughter, Kathy Jean Lawson, who died in 1967.

She is survived by her sons Leonard A. Lawson of Manchester and John F. Lawson of Schertz, Texas; grandchildren Leah A. (Lawson) Stevens of Coplin Plantation, Lennette M. (Lawson) Boardman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Shane P. Lawson of San Antonio, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Turner S. Bowley of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Jedediah C. Stevens of Driggs, Idaho, Owen H. Boardman of Madison, Jocelyn R. Stevens of Farmington, Liam Lawson and Skyler Gaona of San Antonio, Texas.

We would like to thank the staff of Redington Memorial Home of Skowhegan (past and present) of taking care of our mother. She truly enjoyed and loved her residency for the past eight years.

Per her request, there will no funeral service, just a private celebration with family at later date. Please visit http://www.SmartandEdwardsFH.com to share your condolences with June’s family.
