Barbara A. Harvey

MANCHESTER – Barbara A. Harvey, 81, passed away on Sept 2, 2022, at Maine General Comfort Care unit at Glenridge Nursing Facility.

Barbara was born May 3, 1941, in Webster Mass. The daughter of Bernard and Eleanor (Babs) Morway.

Barbara was a graduate of Lawrence High School and Farmington State Teachers College. She became a teacher and taught grade school in the Augusta district and the Hallowell district in Maine. She was co-owner of Harvey’s Distributing Company in Gardiner. Because of her love of history and architecture she became a real estate broker in Augusta and later served as a closing agent for Yankee Title Company.

Barbara was Bicentennial Chairman of Manchester. She helped to write and edit the book on Manchester’s history of which she was immensely proud.

Barbara was genuinely interested in getting to know people and because of this, she had many loyal friends as far back as grade school. She enjoyed reading and doing the cross word puzzles every morning. She loved interior design and exploring the back roads of Maine with her friend Joanne that always ended with a lunch somewhere new.

Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband, Willian K. Harvey, and daughter, Sarah H. Harvey.

She is survived by her three children, Eric Rollins of Biddeford, and wife Julie, Margot Karlberg of Franklin, N.H. and husband Scott, Mark Harvey of Evanston, Ill. and wife Linda; grandchildren Emily, Anna, Ethan, Alexis, Leah, Ellen, and Warren; great-grandchildren Jamison, Oliver, and Saylor; sisters Beverly Watts of Augusta, Betty Smith and Ron of Kennebunk, Bonnie Largess and Jim of Quechee, Vt.; several nieces, nephews; and cousins; and many special friends, but especially Joanne Manheimer and Donna Kessler.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept 20, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a memorial service at 11 a.m., at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, followed by committal at Oak Grove Cemetery in the family plot.
