Debra Jean (Lindholm) DeLisle

WINTHROP – Debra Jean (Lindholm) DeLisle, 65, of Winthrop, left for her final vacation on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, from The Heritage Rehabilitation Living Center, with her son, Christopher, by her side.

Deb was born in Augusta on Dec. 30, 1956. She was the eldest daughter of Harland and Maxine (Brawn) Lindholm. Debbie grew up in Winthrop and was educated in Winthrop schools, graduating as proud Winthrop Rambler in 1976. Deb followed with interest, the Ramblers football team.

Before having and surviving a debilitating stroke in February of 2014, Debbie worked for Progressive Distributers of Winthrop.

From her school years into adulthood, Deb loved parties and places where a lot of people gather for fun, music, and tons of laughs…oh and maybe a wee bit of Allen’s Coffee Brandy, too. She loved her American Legion Post 40 friends and was a frequent pull-ticket winner. But for the most of her life, on any given day, Deb could be found either sitting at the dining room table with her mother, Max, crafting the many unique items that her wonderful imagination could dream up; or up to her elbows in soil, on her hands and knees out in the garden with her dad, Harland; or maybe standing in waders in the middle of Salmon Stream in The Lower Enchanteds or in a canoe in Moore’s Bog in Caratunk fishing. Debbie was a free spirit who followed her heart’s whims. Those of you lucky enough to have known Deb, probably still have a one-of-a-kind refrigerator magnet, decorative Olive Oil and Spice bottle, or possibly a pair of earrings or piece of wood-burnt art of hers in your homes. If there were a craft fair at which she could afford a table, you would always find hers full of unique and interesting pieces. Anyone who knew her really well would know that her fridge always had garden-fresh vegetables inside and the freezer was always full of trout (in-season for both, of course). Debbie was an amazing cook! She was also a passionate NASCAR fan.

Debbie’s favorite place on earth was her beloved Caratunk. But she was at home anywhere in the Maine woods. She’d often put up a tent at ‘The Ball Field’ in The Forks along the Kennebec River to fish and watch the rafters drift by. She would drop a squat around Parlin Pond or spend a night at Joe’s Hole to catch a big one. She’d almost always trek down to Moxie Falls at peak snowmelt. Debbie made friends everywhere she went and kept in touch through Facebook or emails with all of them. Once you were a friend of Debbie’s, you were a friend for life. She will be fondly remembered by many.

Grammy Debbie loved her five grandchildren to the moon and back! You couldn’t escape hearing about and looking at pictures of them all if you ran into Debbie anywhere. She was a proud Grammy.

Deb was predeceased by her parents, Harland and Maxine Lindholm and her beloved Unk, her great uncle Carl Lindholm, whom the family lovingly referred to as ‘Angle Carl’. She is survived by her son, Christopher DeLisle and his wife, Tara, of Whitefield; her daughter, Sarah DeLisle; her sister, Linda (Lindholm) Cotnoir and her husband, Jeff, of Augusta; her brother, Eric Lindholm and his wife, Carol, of Winthrop; her grandchildren, Riley, Mariam and Richard DeLisle and Connor Antonovich and McKenzie DeLisle; her nephew, Michael Lindholm of Maryland; her niece and nephews, Stephanie Kibler, Ryan Cotnoir and Raymond Cotnoir, all of Augusta; several cousins; her special companion, Gary Lovely, of Abbott and West Gardiner, and her very special friend, Jane Dean, of Winthrop.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Heritage Rehabilitation Living Center and Beacon Hospice, for their compassionate, tender care and attention.

There will be a graveside committal on Monday, September 26, at 10 a.m. at the Glenside Cemetery on Turkey Lane in Winthrop.

Arrangements are being lovingly entrusted to Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Roberts Funeral Home website, http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to your local long-term care facility or hospice.
