First, let me say, the Boys and Girls Club is a wonderful addition to the city of Gardiner. What happened before the school closed is what I’m addressing today.

In the fall of 2021, a number of past Pray Street School staff had their picture taken in front of the Pray Street School sign. At that time one of the staff stated she would ask if we could have (or purchase) the sign when it was available. We were told we could have the sign.

Imagine our surprise and tremendous sadness when we were informed that a Boys and Girls Club board member had purchased it and had it displayed at her home! The staff were not even given first refusal after having it promised to us! Evidently a board member thought she was more deserving.

This dedicated staff was Pray Street School, and to be treated like this is disheartening to say the least. To the board member who has this sign, please make this right. Give this sign to the staff who dedicated many years to the students of this community. Thank you.
