FARMINGTON — Two free meal programs have returned to Old South First Congregational Church, UCC, at 235 Main St.
The Pancakery Cafe, run by the youth group, offers brunch with homemade soup, quiches, sandwiches, salads and pancakes. They also serve coffee, tea and cappuccinos.
While the food will be served as take-out, The Pancakery will offer cafe tables so people can stay and eat their meals while listening to live music. Cafe hours are 10:30-11:30 a.m. on the first Sunday of the month, Oct. 2, Nov. 6 and Dec. 4, according to a news release from the church.
The Community Luncheon, a tradition for years, was paused during the height of the pandemic. The free meals are served sit-down family style at noon on the third Saturday of the month, Oct. 15, Nov. 19 and Dec. 17.
For those who prefer takeout, luncheons also are available to go, between noon and 12:30 p.m. People also can request a meal delivered by calling the church office at 207-778-0424 and leaving a message.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
