Former Gov. LePage knows that children and their parents should choose where their children are educated. The money they pay toward public education must be transferable to whatever school they choose.

My question is, what is unacceptable with the public school those children should attend? If the public school is not meeting the special needs of that student, the parents should request that a Pupil Evaluation Team meet with them and discuss that special need. An evaluation would be done to suggest the most appropriate program for that student, either at that public school or some outside facility that specializes is that special area of educational offering.

If, on the other hand, the demand that the student be allowed to attend some school other than the one supported by their tax dollars, the reasons for making that demand should be made clear. Just because a special friend of the student in question attends a different school, or they do not like the mascot or school colors, should not be sufficient cause tor taxpayers to pay for that relocation.

LePage was educated in schools, including a university, supported by the taxpayer’s dollars, and look how he turned out.
