Jean Ruth (Fogg) Cherry

RIVERVIEW, New Brunswick – Jean Ruth (Fogg) Cherry, 89, of Riverview, New Brunswick, formerly of Augusta, and North Easton, Mass., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Originally from Brockton, Mass., she was the daughter of George Samuel Fogg (deceased) and Bernice (Cox) Fogg (deceased). She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence David Cherry, in 2012; and her sister, Mary (Fogg) Bonjokian in 2008.

Jean was an avid reader and loved to play bridge. She was always active in her children’s lives serving as den mother in Scouts, cooking for potluck dinners and whatever other tasks that she could help with. Jean had a diverse working career that included a donut shop, an operator at a phone company, a real estate agent, and she owned her own ceramic business where she taught classes for many years in Augusta. Jean was also very active at Mount Royal United Church Women serving for many years as Treasurer.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Christopher (Victoria) of Kennebunk, Brian (Carol) of Scarborough, and daughter, Candace Scott (Randy) of Riverview, New Brunswick; grandchildren David, Thomas, Benjamin, Amanda, Abigail, Alexander, Meredith and Samuel; great-grandchildren Fynnleigh, Bentley, Savannah, Ruth and Norah; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends and visitors at Cobb’s Funeral home, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview, New Brunswick on Friday, Sept. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will take place at Cobb’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Scott Stuart officiating. For those unable to attend the service it will be live-streamed. The internment will take place at Alderwood Cemetery following the service.
