Leslie Dale Trafton

SKOWHEGAN – Leslie Dale Trafton passed peacefully at his home, Wednesday Sept. 21, 2022.

Leslie was born May 21, 1949 in Hartland to Kleba Trafton and Pauline (Bussell) Trafton. He attended schools in Skowhegan and Madison, received his GED in 1974.

He worked for Norwalk Shoe, earned a welding degree in 1975 and worked at Castine Welding Company. He then was employed by Maine DOT Bridge Department and retired after 34 years.

Leslie married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Lowe, on March 23, 1968. They were married 53 1/2 years. They had two sons, Dale and Scott.

Leslie enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, four wheeling, and spending time at his family hunting camp. Leslie’s greatest pastime was puttering around home and camp. His family and friends were most important and would always put a smile on his face.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Dale Trafton and wife, Lynda, and their four children, Hope, Charlie, Nicholas and Autumn; son, Scott Trafton; brother, Lloyd Trafton and wife, Ellen, brother, Leon Trafton, sister, Bonnie Young and her husband, Skip, sister, Becky Voudris and her husband, Steve; many nieces, nephews; aunts, uncles; cousins; extended family members; and old and new friends.

Leslie was predeceased by his parents; and son, Scott’s partner, Patti York.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. at Sandy Beach Campground, 126 Sandy Beach Rd., Madison, ME 04950. There will be a potluck dinner followed by a service at 4 p.m.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.
