Barbara Lorraine Cary

MADISON – Barbara Lorraine Cary, 75, left this world on Oct. 1, 2022, at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Skowhegan, from respiratory failure. She was born June 4, 1947.

Barb attended Madison High School, continued her education to be a licensed x-ray technician in Ellsworth, and further studied in California and Arizona for her BSN and master’s degree. She was a nursing professor at two universities and worked in Arizona as a hospice nurse for a few years before returning to Maine. She pursued her education at Husson University and became a nurse practitioner, working with several hospitals and nursing homes. She enjoyed helping people and spiritual affiliation.

Barb is survived by two granddaughters, Ainsley and Kaleigh Houston; and son-in-law, Michael Houston, all of San Diego, Calif.; sister, Dorrie Taylor of Madison, brother, Richard Reilley from New Hampshire; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Monty Prevost of Connecticut, Ron Currier of Norridgewock and Mariza Taylor of Bangor.

In addition to her parents Donald and Marion Currier, she was predeceased by her daughter, Melissa Houston.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to RFGH for their care and to all her friends for their support.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
