The Camden Public Library plans to host Down East Singers at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in the Camden Amphitheatre, on Atlantic Avenue, for a free community concert. The rain date for this event is Oct. 23.
This year, they will perform with T-Acadie, a trio from Maine specializing in Acadian folk music. Band members Pam Weeks, Jim Joseph, and Bill Olsen play a variety of music from French Canadian and New England traditions; Cajun waltzes and blues; two steps; and Zydeco tunes, plus a variety of songs in 3-part harmony. The concert also will include a preview of the Down East Singers’ Noël Français concerts in December that will include French-Canadian carols and European French holiday repertoire.
Some chairs will be provided, but concert-goers also are encouraged to bring camp chairs for comfortable seating.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
