Blanchard Grant Hupper

ANSON – Blanchard Grant Hupper, of Anson, known by his family and friends as “Lucky”, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 6, 2022.

Lucky was born June 10, 1938 in Thomaston, the son of Harlan Blanchard and Kathleen Luella (Davis) Hupper. He grew up in East Hartford, Conn. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1956, serving until 1959. He and Roberta Irene Huntley were married on April 1, 1958. They were married 53 years before her passing in 2011. They had three sons, Robert, Andrew, and David. After Roberta’s death, he married Sally Ramsey, and gained another family that love and appreciate him for his kind and thoughtful nature.

While living in Connecticut, Lucky worked for the Mohawk Beef Company, and the Connecticut Highway Department. After moving to Maine, he was employed at Woodtec in North Anson, and Madison Paper Industries.

He was an avid ham radio operator, served on the Madison Troop 419 Boy Scout Committee, and was a member of the Retreads International Motorcycle Club, Anson ATV Club, and the Anson/ North Anson Snowmobile Club. He also supported the Make A Wish Foundation, and other worthy causes. He attended the United Baptist Church in Madison for many years, and Calvary Pentecostal Church for the last 10 years.

Blanchard was predeceased by his father and mother, his stepmother Lucy (Brown) Hupper, sister Janice Evangeline Hupper, half-sister Glenda, and wife Roberta Irene (Huntley) Hupper.

He is survived by his wife Sally Hupper, brothers Marvon W. Hupper of Port Clyde, Kendall W. Hupper of Tolland Conn., sisters, Doris E. Wescott of Union, Cheryl A. Soellner of Clermont, Fla., and half-sisters Doreen Hupper and Denise Lumpkin of East Hartford, Conn. He is also survived by his three sons, Robert and wife Dawn, of Madison, Andrew and partner Katie, of Anson, David and friend Ramona, of Anson, and grandchildren Jonathan, Justin, Merissa and stepdaughter Susan and husband Timothy Haynes of Anson, their children and grandchildren.

Lucky will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends, especially his morning coffee companion and close friend of 27 years, Vaughn Burtt and his wife Roberta.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Madison on Saturday, October 15, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Timothy Haynes officiating.
