WATERVILLE – It is with great sadness that the family of Virginia J. Michaud, a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend has passed away peacefully on Oct. 5, 2022, with family by her side.

Virginia J. Michaud, born Oct. 14, 1937, the youngest daughter to Pearl Clark Lyons Jandreau (Presque Isle) and Delbert Lyons (Portage). She was born in Portage and attended schools in Portage and Ashland, Maine.

Virginia married the love of her life, Leonide Michaud, on June 4, 1955.

Virginia was a devoted wife and mother of six children whom she loved deeply. Pauline Carpenter of Waterville, Aldia Mullen (Alan) of Oakland, Julie Woodworth (John) of North Hampton, N.H., Clayton Michaud (Connie) of Gretna, La. and Earl Michaud (Kelly) of Oakland. She was a devoted sister to her last living brother Milton Lyons of Ashland, Maine.

She will be deeply missed by her 16 grandchildren whom called her Meme and her 18 great-grandchildren whom called her Gigi.

She was predeceased by her parents; her daughter Linda Mackenzie; her eight siblings Donald, Alfred, Opal, Effie, Eugenia, Arthur, Clara and Lona.

Virginia worked 25 years at the Hathaway. After retiring she and Leonide enjoyed helping their children do various jobs around their homes. She enjoyed the simple things in life such as long walks with her grand “dog”, snowshoeing, quilting, baking and taking day trips back to her hometown of Portage Lake with her daughter Aldia.

Words cannot express our thankfulness to our brother Earl and sister-in-law Kelly for all their heartfelt guidance, support and care they gave our mom during this difficult time.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at 10:15 a.m. at Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted in Virginia’s name at “The Waterville Area Soup Kitchen” a dining place at 38 College Avenue in Waterville. Where Guests are invited to enjoy a tasty, nutritious meal and an opportunity for socialization.
