Normand Joseph Renney Labonte

AUGUSTA – Normand Joseph Renney Labonte, 78, went home to be with his Lord on Oct. 12, 2022. He was born on June 23, 1944, the son of Charles and Marie LaBonte of Augusta.

Normand attended St. Augustine’s Catholic School and went on to Cony High School where he graduated on June 19, 1963, in Augusta.

Normand enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. Normand’s hobbies included remodeling his home, playing with his toys, watching his deer in the yard in the mornings, stoking a great fire, and working around the yard. Normand also enjoyed watching his NASCAR race series.

On July 24, 1999, he married his love Eilene Jeanette Burnham and has been married for 23 years.

Normand enlisted in the United States Army on July 30, 1963, making a career out of serving his home and country. Normand then retired as Sergeant First Class in 1998. Serving over 20 years receiving many medals and awards, including the Purple Heart.

Normand did two tours of duty during the Vietnam war. Norman was a Gunner on a tank for his first tour and a gunner on a Helicopter for his second tour.

He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Kristy Jane Brann and a son- in law Robert A. Brann.

Normand is survived by his wife, Eilene Jeanette Labonte; his daughter, Amanda Jeanette Loraine Labonte and her fiancé Zac Wentzel of Augusta; his siblings, Carlene Carney and husband Bill and Lawrence LaBonte and wife Judy; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Relatives and friends may visit from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date.
