Joseph DeAmaral

AUGUSTA – Joseph DeAmaral, 71, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, at his home. He was born in Rehoboth, Mass., on Aug. 7, 1951, a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Camara) DeAmaral.

Joe graduated from Dighton-Rehoboth Regional HS and served in the US Navy for three years. He worked at Carlton Woolen Mills and Proctor & Gamble for several years and was a member of the Augusta First Church of the Nazarene.

Joe was an avid guitarist and songwriter. The joy of Joe’s life was his family. His five grandchildren adored him and he loved playing with them and making them laugh.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lorna (Lyon) DeAmaral of Augusta; a son, Matthew J. DeAmaral and his wife, Crystal, of Honeoye Falls, NY; four sisters: Lillian Pierce of Seekonk, MA, Dorothy Moreau of South Attleboro, MA, Elizabeth (Allen) Ireland of East Waterboro and Patricia Rodriguez of Pawtucket, RI; a brother, Manuel DeAmaral, Jr. of Springvale; a brother-in-law, Duane Lyon of Lincoln, ME; many nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by two brothers, George and Daniel DeAmaral, and his brother-in-law Felix Rodriguez.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 22 at 11am, at the Augusta First Church of the Nazarene, 30 Nazarene Drive, Augusta. A private burial will take place at a later date.
