Lucia Constance Yeaton

BELGRADE – Lucia Constance Yeaton, 88, passed away Oct. 15, 2022, after a long battle with multiple ailments. Lucia was born Jan. 20, 1934, to Hollis and Frances Bishop in Winthrop, Mass.

Most of her growing up years were spent moving to different locations in the East as her father followed the construction projects, but then settled in Glen Cove, Long Island and then Manhattan, New York, where she worked at H.K. Porter, then CBS TV where she was the receptionist, which included manning the phone bank at the Kennedy/Nixon election in 1960, and then primarily did the billing in the advertising department.

In 1968, she married Paul Stacy Yeaton and in 1971, they and their infant son moved back from New York to her husband’s family farm in Belgrade, where she did temporary work around the area. Then in 1990 she moved to Seattle for a short stint, then moved back to Belgrade and built a new home.

Lucia was friendly, outgoing, jovial, and feisty, and anyone who met Lucia would not forget her and would have her as a long-term friend. Her enjoyments were making her home a decorated and warm place for her family and others and tending her twenty-two flower gardens. Her Golden Retrievers and other woofs were a hug joy.

Lucia was predeceased by her parents; and her son, Paul Murray Yeaton.

She is survived by her husband; and by her brother, Hollis Bishop, Jr., of New City, N.Y..; and many beloved nieces and nephews; and brother and sister-in-law.

Services will be held at her home the summer of 2023, extended over time to accommodate families on vacation

Much gratitude to the personnel at Glenridge Comfort Care in Augusta who were so caring and compassionate, they were so nice.

And so much thanks to the people of Androscoggin Home Health Care. They went so out of their way to go the extra mile to help Lucia and befriend her, so kind and easy to be with.

Arrangements are in the care of Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church Street, Oakland, where condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the website at http://www.lawrybrothers.com.
