Jane L. Ezzy

AUGUSTA – Jane L. Ezzy, 79, died on Oct. 14, 2022, from the late effects of Parkinson’s Disease.

She was born in Van Buren on May 21, 1943. She was the daughter of Dorothy O’Connell Labbe and Onil B. Labbe, M.D. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Van Buren in 1961 and from the University of Maine in 1965.

Jane served in the Peace Corps in Bahia, Brazil from 1965-1967. After service in the Peace Corps, she traveled extensively throughout South America and Western Europe. In 1971, Jane married Peter J. Ezzy whom she’d known since 6th grade. Jane and Peter shared a very strong bond. They graduated together from 8th grade, high school and college and retired from Maine State Government on the same day in 2004. Jane passed away just five weeks after Peter.

Jane spent the bulk of her career working for Disability Determination Services for the State of Maine. Upon retirement from the State, Jane worked part-time for 11 years in the shoe department at L.L.Bean.

She was predeceased by her parents.

She is survived by her son, Aaron Ezzy of Bass Harbor; her daughter, Sarah Ezzy and her son-in-law, Blake Mobley and their sons Finn and Rex Mobley of Del Mar, Calif. She is also survived by her sister, Rita Duffy of South Portland.

Jane has donated her body for medical research at the University of New England.

Jane lived her life to the fullest, up until the very end. She will be remembered as an open-hearted, honest, friendly woman with a hearty laugh. She was beloved by her family and friends and will always be in our hearts.

A joint celebration of life is being planned for Jane and her late husband Peter later this year with details to be announced.
