Kenneth “Ken” Moody Jr.

PITTSTON – Kenneth “Ken” Moody Jr., 75, who was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend of many, passed away peacefully at Maine Medical Center in Portland on Oct. 12, 2022.

Ken was born on June 27, 1947, to mother, Pearl J. York Moody and Fred M. Moody in Randolph. After Ken graduated from Gardiner Area High School in 1966, he then joined the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam War earning a rank of SP4 and was nicknamed “Mother Mood”.

After serving his country he returned to Maine and worked several jobs as a mechanic and then went on to managing drug stores before retiring.

On June 16, 2012, Ken married Wilma Weed in Pittston. Ken and Wilma went on to enjoy many years together enjoying each of their families and time with each other.

When Ken retired, he spent his time hunting, fishing, building, archery, and spending time with family and friends. Ken touched many lives and was always eager to lend a helping hand and loved to help others learn to hunt and fish. His sense of humor and kindness will be forever remembered.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma M. Moody; brother, Linwood Moody and wife, Colleen Moody, sisters Pearl M. Moody, Gloria Hanna and husband, Blaine Hanna; daughter, Wendy C. Rousseau and husband, Craig G. Rousseau, Dallas M. Thang, and husband, Lel V. Thang, stepson, Mark Weed and wife, Mary Weed, Shawn Kalloch and wife, Kim Kalloch. He was also survived by grandchildren Misty M. Gayton and husband, Ken Gayton, Myles T. Mott, Alexander V. Thang, Cara M. Arsenault and husband, Trevor Arsenault, Kassidy M. Thang, and Kayla M. Thang; as well as several step-grandchildren Jacob Weed, Zachary Weed, Matthew Weed, Kayla Kalloch, and Deklan Rousseau. His great-grandchildren were Jazmin Gayton, Kinzley Gayton, and Carter J. Arsenault.

Ken was predeceased by his mother, Pearl J. York Moody, stepfather, Fred M. Moody; sister, Betty A. Cormier, and brother-in-law, Calvin Moody.

Services will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Rd., Augusta on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. There will be a celebration of life gathering afterwards for friends and family to share fond memories and stories of Ken’s life.
