Russell “Rusty” Young

CLINTON – Russell “Rusty” Young, 57, passed away at home Tuesday Oct. 17, 2022. Rusty was born in Waterville on August 5, 1965, to Linda and Earl Young.

He attended elementary school in Clinton, until his family moved to Pennsylvania where he spent his teen years. During this time, he spent most of his time working in his friend Phil’s auto shop. He moved back to Maine when his parents passed away to help care for his younger siblings. Rusty spent most of his working career doing tree work for Central Maine Tree and Asplundh. His last job was working at Pride Manufacture where he suffered a back injury and was no longer able to work.

Rusty was a very kind and generous person who always had a soft spot for those who were less fortunate. He once gave the boots off his feet to a young man with a family so he wouldn’t lose his job for not having steel toed boots. He enjoyed helping people. Rusty loved hunting and fishing in his younger years and was very knowledgeable about nature and wildlife. In the later years, his favorite pastime was hanging out with his friends Paul and Porky. He loved to play cards. Rusty also loved spending time with family. He had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be around.

Rusty suffered a great deal of pain during his last week, and he missed a family birthday party, but he smiled ear to ear when Owen, his four-year-old nephew, asked if he would like to come to his house to play toys when he felt better.

He is survived by his sister and forever best friend Kathy Ware and her partner Carl Clarke; a special niece Chelsea and her husband Austin Davis and their two children Connor and Owen; his sister Susie and her husband Dan Dow, his sister Kim Young and her two children who were also very special to Rusty, Emily and Cody Mckenna; and many distant relatives and local and distant friends.

There will be a private graveside service at Town House Hill Cemetery in Clinton.

Arrangements are in the care of Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield where memories may be shared, and an online register book signed by visit.
