Ann (Cameron) Gannett

MANCHESTER – Ann Gannett, 68, of Manchester, died Oct. 25, 2022 at Maine General Hospital after a brief, but valiant battle with cancer.

Born Feb. 11, 1954, to Margaret “Peg” (Fallon) and John Cameron of Augusta, Ann attended schools in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School in 1972. She had many fond memories of growing up on School Street with her brothers and the many friends who came to “hang out” at their house.

Many will remember Ann from her many years of hospitality work at Augusta Country Club and Granite Hill Estates. She was well known and loved not only for her capacity and skill but for her graciousness, generosity and kindness toward everyone she met. Ann demonstrated the utmost compassion and commitment when she retired in order to be a full-time caregiver for her mother for several years.

Ann was a gifted pastry chef and those of us who were lucky enough to benefit from her cooking will remember delicious cream puffs, fruit pies and delectable cakes. She found joy in feeding others and during her retirement years was delighted to plan and create meals for her grandchildren. How happy she was to be “Nannie” to Isabelle and Tommy!

Ann had a lifelong love for Cobbossee Lake and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends at camp. An animal lover, she had many special dogs in her life but had a singular bond with her beloved “Tay.”

Petite in stature but with an enormous heart, Ann touched many lives. Whatever your dilemma, Ann would always take your side and lend a supporting ear. Her home was always open, there was plenty in the fridge and you could fill up on candy (she’d never tell.)

Ann is survived by her cherished son, Derek, his wife, Holly and their children Isabelle and Tommy. She is also survived by her brothers Jack (Christine), Mark (Linda), Bruce (Carol) and Linda Larochelle Cameron. She will be sorely missed by nephews Jeremy Cameron and Craig Cameron and nieces Jenny Clarkson and Holly Daigle; along with numerous cousins; and many, many special and lifelong friends.

Family and friends are invited to join us on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Augusta Country Club, 19 Hammonds Grove, Manchester, ME 04351 to share memories and celebrate Ann’s life. Arrangements are in the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330. Condolences, stories or photos may be shared by visiting http://www.plummerfh.com.
