Recently I received a postcard from the Maine Republican Party claiming that Mike Perkins will “always put Maine families not Maine politics first.” Before you believe this to be fact, I hope you take time to have a look at Perkins’ voting record; he almost always votes along party lines.
Last session, Perkins voted against L.D. 1679 which provides free school meals to all Maine students. He put politics before Maine families and voted against a bipartisan bill to address food insecurity, which impacts 1 in 4 Maine children. The law has been incredibly popular and celebrated by Maine people and is making us a national model in addressing childhood food insecurity.
When you receive these mailers with promises to lower energy costs or to stop inflation if elected, ask yourself, if he couldn’t accomplish it in the last six years, why should we trust him to accomplish this now?
