Judith R. (Miller) Newman

AUGUSTA – Mrs. Judith R. (Miller) Newman, 83, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, in Maine General Rehabilitation and long-term care – Gray Birch after a lengthy illness.

Judy was born Feb. 28, 1939, in Togus, Maine. She is the daughter of the late Jesse and Ella (Marquis) Miller. She was a graduate of Cony High School Class of 1957 where she was a member of the Glee Club and played softball intramural, JV and Varsity. She also played Volleyball intramural.

Judy worked at Digital Equipment Corporation as a Quality Control Auditor for many years until her retirement.

She loved cooking especially for others, reading, playing bingo, and traveling to the Maine coast to eat lobster which was one of her favorites. She also loved spending time with her family during holidays and watching older movies.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel Newman and his wife Patty of Belgrade, Brian Newman of Chelsea and Kevin Newman of Vassalboro. Her cherished grandchildren Samantha Newman and her partner Hunter Tinker, Jennifer Clements and her husband Dustin, Harland Newman, Ariana Newman and Steven Farrington. Her great-grandchildren, Naomi Tinker, Everly Tinker, Owen Savage, Elliot Clements, Ian Clements and Theodore Newman. She is also survived by her siblings Charlotte Noyes of Palmetto, Florida, Elizabeth Cornish of Florida, Joan Bonenfant of Augusta, John Miller and his wife Norma of Windsor and Nancy Camelio and her husband Peter Hinkley of North Anson as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by Marguerite Gay, Dorothy Delhoney, Jesse Miller Jr., Pauline Wing, Gloria Rogers and Raymond Miller.

Judith’s visiting hours will be in the Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St. Augusta on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
