Marjorie O. Dearborn

MOUNT VERNON – On November 4, 2022, Marjorie O. Dearborn serenely passed away at her home of 56 years. “Marj” was born in Concord, Massachusetts April 7, 1938, to parents Edgar and Janet Wiley. She grew up on a small farm in Warren Maine. Marj often spoke of her hard work, especially being the oldest of three sisters and one foster sister, Carolyn Pendleton, Betsy Berry, Eva Muldoon, and Phyllis Wiggin.

Marjorie graduated Warren High School in 1956. Marj then attended the University of Maine Orono, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Botany in 1963. There, she met her loving and devoted husband Richard G. Dearborn who passed away in 2018. They married on August 25th,1962. In 1966, together they purchased their forever home in Mount Vernon Maine, where they raised seven beautiful children, son Jeffery Dearborn and wife Tina, daughter Ruthann Gavett and husband Richard, son Thomas Dearborn and wife Jill, daughter Linda Sevier and husband Terrence, daughter Nora Bush and husband Robert, daughter Laurel McFarland and husband Michael, and son John Dearborn and wife Diana. The Dearborn Family in turn, worked hard at their home in Mount Vernon and sustained a living off the land.

Aside from raising her children, Marjorie was well known in the community as a local school bus driver. She was also a substitute teacher primarily for the Maranacook Area Schools. Later in life, she worked and volunteered at Fort Western in Augusta Maine. Additionally, she and husband Dick, volunteered at Leonard’s Mills in Bradley Maine, where they continued to share their love of Colonial History. She was an active member at the Church of Christ Scientist in Augusta Maine, volunteered at Dunn’s Corner Baptist Church in Mount Vernon Maine, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Marj was a gifted seamstress, and crafted countless wedding and prom dresses for family and members of the community. Marj adored vacationing throughout the US and visiting her 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

For those interested, Marjorie Dearborn’s service will be hosted Saturday November 12th from 11am-2pm (Funeral Services at 1PM) at Dunn’s Corner Baptist Church, 238 Wings Mills Rd.

Arrangements are in the care of the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St. Winthrop, where condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the funeral home website at http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dunn’s Corner Baptist Church. Funds will be used to help Marjorie’s sponsorships through OneChild.
